Acceptable use and privacy

The rules everyone using Relay Mail agrees to, and what we do with personal data.

Acceptable use

Relay Mail is for keeping your own email address private. You're responsible for everything sent from or received at your aliases. You must not use Relay Mail to:

  • send spam, bulk or unsolicited mail, including from purchased or scraped lists;
  • phish, scam, defraud or impersonate anyone;
  • send malware or links to it;
  • harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or get around a block they've placed on you;
  • share child sexual abuse material or any other illegal content;
  • create accounts on other services to evade their bans or limits, or to manipulate reviews, votes or promotions;
  • do anything else that's illegal in the UK or where you are.

What we do about it

When we receive a report or spot abuse ourselves, we may switch off aliases, suspend or close the account, and keep the records we need to deal with it. We act straight away where people could be harmed, and we co-operate with the police and other authorities when the law requires it. Report problems on our abuse page.

Privacy

Relay Mail is run by Digital Connect Web Services in the United Kingdom. We're responsible for the personal data described here under UK data protection law (UK GDPR).

If you have an account

  • Account details: your username, the real email addresses your mail is forwarded to, and your settings.
  • Your aliases: the aliases you create, plus simple counts such as how many messages each one has forwarded or blocked.
  • Email in transit: messages are scanned for spam and viruses and forwarded. They aren't kept in a mailbox. If a message can't be delivered, a copy may be held briefly so you can see what failed, then deleted.
  • Server logs: mail server logs record sender and recipient addresses and delivery results. They're used to keep the service working and to investigate abuse, and are deleted after a few weeks.

If you send us an abuse report

We keep the report, including your email address and anything you paste in, so we can investigate it and follow up with you. We don't share your details with the person you reported. Reports are kept for 12 months, then deleted unless we need them for an ongoing case or a legal obligation.

This website

This site has no analytics or advertising cookies. The abuse form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check you're not a bot; Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address for that check only.

Sharing

We don't sell personal data or use it for advertising. We only share it when the law requires us to, or with providers that help run the service, such as Cloudflare for DNS and bot protection.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Use our privacy request form and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
